Sharp selected SEC Co-Offensive Lineman of the Week

STARKVILLE- Mississippi State Center La Quinston Sharp was selected as the SEC’s Co-Offensive Lineman of the Week on Monday after helping lead the way in the Bulldogs’ 49-23 season-opening win over Memphis.

Sharp started its 23rd career game for MSU and played 85 snaps, the most of any center in the conference last weekend. He didn’t allow a sack or a single hit at the quarterback Will Rogers and cleared lanes for 54 of the Bulldogs’ 97 rushing yards on the night.

State’s offense had 547 total yards against the Tigers and averaged 6.6 yards per play.

It was the second time Sharp was named SEC Offensive Lineman of the Week in his career. The 6-foot-3, 310-pound Columbus graduate also earned the honor following the win over then-No. 12 Kentucky last season, one of three times a Mississippi State offensive lineman was awarded for the weekly prize by the league office in 2021. .

Sharp shared the weekly SEC honor with Alabama center Darrian Dalcourt.
