School students to design the logo | Surah News

Surat: Students in the city will design the logo for the upcoming Rs 3,904 crore Tapi waterfront project. For this, the Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) will organize a logo design contest for school children. The winner will receive a cash prize of Rs 25,000. A separate competition to suggest slogans for the project has also been planned.
The decisions were taken at the first meeting of the board of directors of the special purpose company Tapi Riverfront Development Corporation Ltd. held Monday at SMC headquarters.
“It was a focused attempt to develop the waterfront project. Until now, this was done on small sections of riverbank, but now all aspects of the project will be tackled simultaneously,” said Bachhanidhi Pani, Commissioner of SMC.
“From now on, key positions in the SPV will also be filled soon. We are giving it shape with the School Logo Contest,” Pani added.
The works of the first phase will cost Rs 1,991 crore. The project also includes the development of a dam at Magdalla. Meanwhile, the SMC has formed a committee of three officers of the rank of Deputy Commissioner – NV Upadhyay, RJ Makadia and Kamlesh Upadhyay – to review human resources issues. “As some senior officers retire along with several other officials, SMC will face a staffing shortage. In such a scenario, how to motivate the existing workforce to work efficiently will be planned by the committee,” a senior SMC official said.
