Jersey Girl’s designs caused a sensation at New York Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week is all about design and fashion. Whoever is involved in it is either a big deal or a very big deal in the future. This is where people come from all over the world to see and be seen, to find out what the latest fashion trends will be for the coming season.

The shows are always filled with celebrities and taste makers. And then there is Marcia Arnsparger Santiago, Jersey Girl and true designer of taste.

Santiago, a mom and entrepreneur and the latest fashion “it” girl, commutes from her Jersey Shore home to New York to make waves in the fashion world with her business KlosetSlayer, and its fierce cutting edge designs.

Even though it’s very exciting that she’s showing off at NYFW, it’s not the first time. It is actually the fourth. And its popularity continues to grow.

Santiago, a resident of Barnegat, got her start when a friend’s granddaughter entered the Miss Teen New Jersey pageant and asked Santiago to help her design an outfit for her, according to an article on Jersey Shore Online.

And the rest is … well, you know.

Her business is exploding now, with celebrities including reality TV stars, rappers and professional soccer players lining up to wear her unique designs.

Take a look at KlosetSlayer’s Instagram and you’ll see a true celebration of diversity with models of all sizes, shapes, colors and gender identities sporting her clothes. And it’s not just for photo ops. According to the article, Santiago said, “We don’t do regular models on our catwalks. We include the plus size because that is what is realistic. Not everyone is size zero.

Very few designers can say this and really mean it.

Interestingly, the designer readily admits that she has no artistic training. On the contrary, she has an eye, a flair to bring together the basics to come up with designs worthy of a show. If this collection is any indication, Marcia is on a very long term in the fashion world.

And we can’t wait to follow its trajectory and be part of it.
