ADHS: Peoria area zip codes have 27,683 cases



The Arizona Department of Health Services on Thursday reported 1,014 new cases of coronavirus and seven new deaths, for a total of 904,865 cases and 18,083 deaths.

In the Peoria area, the number of cases is 27,683 compared to 27,397 this time a week ago, a difference of 286, according to the Arizona Department of Health Services.

Over 90% of cases were mapped to the patient’s home address. If the patient’s address was unknown, the case was mapped to the provider’s address followed by the address of the reporting facility.

The city is partnering with Embry Health to offer free COVID-19 testing. Anyone can be tested whether or not they have symptoms. The tests are done with people in their cars and by nasal swabbing. • Pioneer Community Park, 8755 N. 83rd Ave. : Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
• Sunrise Mountain Library, 21109 N. 98th Ave. : Sunday-Saturday, 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
• Peoria Sports Complex, 16101 N. 83rd Ave. : Sunday-Saturday, 7 am-11pm

The coronavirus causes mild to moderate symptoms such as fever and cough for most people. The vast majority of people diagnosed with COVID-19 recover.

But for some – especially the elderly and people with existing health problems – it can cause more serious illnesses, including pneumonia and death.
