When does cross-progression come to Rainbow Six Siege?

Rainbow Six players will now be able to track their progress on PC and console, under one unified account, with cross-progression coming to Siege starting June 30. Deployment will take months, however.

Cross-progression in Rainbow Six: Siege has been a major topic of discussion since the game’s release. Although it’s currently available on Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, each platform maintains its own account progression.

This means that if you switch from Xbox to PlayStation for next-gen consoles, or if you switch entirely from console to PC, you will have to start all over again. No more Elite skins, no more complete operator lists – you’re back to square one.

It changes anyway. During Ubisoft Forward 2021, the developers announced the long-awaited release of cross-progression.

Cross-play and cross-progression are finally underway in Siege.

Cross-progression, as described by Ubisoft, “allows you to play the game on one platform and continue to progress on another, as long as your Ubisoft account is linked to the target platform”.

The initial cross-progression launch on June 30 will only be for PC and cloud gaming services Stadia and Luna. The consoles cross-progression, connecting Xbox and PlayStation to PC for the first time, will launch in early 2022.

This means that all your operators, your profile progress, and your cosmetics will likely be transferred between different platforms. However, things like ranked stats and progress will be removed.

The launch of the console has been delayed slightly as Ubisoft faces the technical challenges of porting changes to all platforms.

“We’re going to have to be really careful how we do it because Siege is a live game. It’s like changing the wheels of the car while we are driving on the highway, ”explained Guillaume Gad, Rainbow Six associate producer at Ubisoft Forward.

“We’re going to have a lot of work to do on the user interface and on the technical side to make sure that all of the different environments we have can merge into one so that we can support cross play and cross progression. “

Cross-play will launch concurrently with cross-progression, with rollout starting June 30. However, Siege’s cross-play won’t fully unify console and PC gamers.

We will update this article as more information becomes available.
